Detector Integration

Overview

As part of a novel timing detector with picosecond resolution being built for the CMS experiment at CERN, I lead the mechanical integration effort — coordinating how individual detector subsystems and components come together into complete, buildable assemblies within tight tolerances and space constraints, as part of a large international collaboration including MIT and Fermilab.

My Role

  • Lead responsible for detector integration across the project.
  • Continuous development of large detector assemblies in CATIA.
  • Generated technical documentation and associated 2D drawings for detector assemblies.
  • Provided input to facilitate planning for integration, testing, and commissioning activities in upcoming project stages, coordinating with the CMS Technical Coordination and Logistics working group.
  • Collaborated across a large international collaboration, combining Agile and Waterfall project management approaches to structure tasks and deliver work efficiently.

Tools & Standards

  • CAD (CATIA)
  • FEA (ANSYS)
  • Systems Integration
  • ISO GPS / Functional Tolerancing
